Aurora University Athletics recently issued the following announcement.
The Aurora University women's basketball team made a strong come back effort in the fourth quarter at Benedictine University in their first contest of 2022 on Tuesday night but came up short, falling to the Eagles 83-76.

How it Happened
- The Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead quickly in the first quarter.
- AU battled back and with 2:58 to play, were within two points at 15-13.
- The Spartans would trail after one quarter 21-14.
- With 3:31 left in the second quarter, the Spartans would take advantage of the Eagle's cold shooting and cut the lead to 6 going into halftime 39-33.
- The third quarter saw the visiting Eagles come out energized and a 16-0 run resulted in the Spartans trailing 49-33 with 8:08 left to play.
- A basket by Julie Galauner got the Spartan offense going.
- AU trailed 60-51 going into the fourth quarter.
- A 5-0 Spartan run behind a basket from Savannah Johnson and a three from Julie Galauner found AU down by four at 72-68 with 4:59 left to play.
- The Spartans out-shot the Eagles 25-23 in the fourth but would fall 83-76.
