Geneva resident and portfolio manager Bobby Piton recently announced his 2022 run against U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill) with term limits being a major part of his platform.

“If I’m elected, I only want to serve one term and be done,” the Republican said in a video posted to YouTube. “We have 300 million Americans in this country and 100 senators. I don’t think we ever need one person in there for more than six years, period.  Let other Americans step up and serve. I’m tired of this crap where you get in there and figure out how you can fleece everybody in a second term.”

Duckworth and fellow Illinois Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin recently came under heavy criticism from journalist Glenn Greenwald, who charged both with victimizing Pulse nightclub shooting victims all over again.

“Democratic senators and activist groups (are) promoting a false, conclusively disproven narrative about the Pulse shootings for their own benefits,” Greenwald posted on Twitter in response to a post about how the shooter picked the nightclub to stage his deadly rampage. “Anti-LGBT animus was not part of that massacre. It dishonors the memory of the victims - & the LGBT cause - to lie about what happened.”

Greenwald suspects it was all done for political gain, adding, “This tweet is an absolute lie. Every journalist who covered the PULSE shootings and trial will tell you this. It's infuriating to watch Senators blatantly lie this way.”

The June 2016 shooting in Orlando, Fla., left 49 people dead. During the attack, gunman Omar Mateen is reported to have called 911 and pledged allegiance to the leader of the virulently anti-gay Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
