State Rep. Anna Moeller (D-Elgin) allegedly admitted that she would want her daughters to tell her if they were considering an abortion during a webinar in February.

According to viewers, Moeller reportedly made the admission during a Planned Parenthood Illinois Action Activist University webinar called, "Policy Deep Dive: Repeal of Parental Notice of Abortion" on Feb. 23.

The veteran lawmaker is leading the charge in the push for a bill that would repeal the law stipulating that parents be notified before a minor can have an abortion. Currently, teenage girls who are seeking an abortion are required to notify their parents at least 48 hours before the procedure.

A recent survey that found 72% of Illinois voters oppose repealing parental notification. State Rep. Avery Bourne (R-Pawnee) is among the growing number of lawmakers vowing to fight any change.

“I will continue to fight for these expectant moms and their babies and to oppose this bill,” Bourne recently posted on Facebook. “Please stay diligent and contact your elected officials to tell them you support keeping parental notification in Illinois.”

Bourne argues the notification legislation is already making a difference.

“Within five months after this notification bill was implemented, abortions among minors dropped 20%,” Bourne said. “This notification is common sense and it works.”

Bourne and supporters of the notification legislation argue all indications are it’s what parents and voters want to see, pointing to a poll that finds almost three out of four respondents are opposed to repealing the notification requirement.

Moeller has served in Springfield since 2014 in her 43rd District including all or parts of Elgin, Barrington Hills, Carpentersville, East Dundee and South Elgin.
