City of Geneva Natural Resources Committee met Jan. 6.

• Earth Day Event, April 24, 2021

i. Jay will continue to discuss the event with Christine Shiel of the GPD.

ii. Sent email to all vendors to see if they are interested, have received emails from a number of vendors that are interested in being there.

• Eastside Fire Station Natural Landscaping Project

i. Redo in Spring of 2021.

• River Clean-up Day

i. The event will be held again in 2021 to align with Our Fox River by the Friends of the Fox River.

• Rain Barrels for sale

i. Have four terra cotta in storage.

• Greening Geneva Initiative

i. All trees are asleep for the winter.

• Wine, Cheese, and Trees

i. Feb. 27, 2021 was selected for the event date.

ii. The Geneva Wine Cellar selected three wines for the event.

iii. The Sponsor Request letter was updated and made available to the team for their use.

• Fabyan Preserve Stewardship

i. Workdays began again in October. The full schedule has been sent out and posted with City.

• Elm Park Restoration Work

i. Update from Kelvin

• NRC Facebook page and Instagram

i. General update

• Recycling Bins on 3rd Street

i. The City agreed to a recycling bin pilot/trial period for 2021.

ii. The NRC offered to purchase one recycle bin to help with the initiative.

• Tree Ordinance

i. Waiting to hear back from City re:revisions from NRC.

6. New Initiatives

• Create an education piece to reduce plastic and styrofoam at restaurants.
