City of Aurora issued the following announcement on Dec. 26.
The City of Aurora and the Aurora African-American Heritage Advisory Board (AAHAB) extend warmest wishes to the community for a healthy, hopeful and Happy Kwanzaa.
For the next seven days, and into the New Year, may the seven principles of Kwanzaa - Unity, Self Determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith – inspire reflection and action as individuals, as families, and as an entire community.
These same guiding principles have strengthened our African-American community of Aurora, throughout America and across the globe during this past year of reflection and reckoning - and for many generations prior.
May our families celebrate safely, so our future remains healthy & bright.
