East Dundee-Countryside Fire Protection District responded to 272 calls in 2018 - 20 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in East Dundee-Countryside included 69 fires - 46 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 15 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $171,900 in fire loss - or about $2,491 per fire.

The department also received 201 false calls, including seven malicious calls and 194 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries.
