City of Batavia Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Met July 7.

Pursuant to COVID-19 Executive Order No. 5 issued by the Governor of the State of Illinois dated March 16, 2020, and in the interest of public health and safety, this Board meeting will be held remotely, telephonically. The Public was given the opportunity to join this meeting.

The meeting was delayed until 4:07 p.m. No one from the Public was planning to attend.

APPROVE PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Motion: To approve the Minutes from the June 2, 2020 Regular Meeting, with the corrections discussed in this meeting.

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS

Police Personnel

Executive Session

The Board entered into Executive Session at 4:10 p.m.

Motion: To approve going into Executive Session to discuss police personnel

Maker: Zies

Second: Anderson

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried

Motion: To approve leaving Executive Session and returning to Open session at 4:26 p.m.

Maker: Zies

Second: Anderson

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried

Police Testing – Physical Ability Test Review

The Commissioners accept the draft of the Police Physical Ability Test Recommendations document, presented by Watch Commander Blowers. These recommendations will by physically tested by a group of police officers, while the Commissioners are present.

Fire and Police Commission 2019 Annual Report

Motion: To accept and approve the 2019 Annual Report for the Fire and Police Commission.

Maker: Anderson

Second: Vance

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried

Fire and Police Commission Yearly Election of Board Officers

Motion: To keep the Board Member positions as they are.

Maker: Zies

Second: Anderson

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried

OLD BUSINESS

Firefighter Testing Update

The testing for new Firefighters is set to be at College of DuPage at the end of this year. Applications are due July 17, 2020 and the orientation will be in August 17, 2020.

The 2021 Lieutenant promotional exam process will begin starting in August of 2020. At that time books for the exam will be picked.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to consider, a motion was made by Commissioner Zies to adjourn the meeting at 4:36 p.m. Seconded by Secretary Anderson. All in favor. Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:36 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, August 4, 2020, beginning at 4:00 p.m. This meeting will be held remotely via Zoom video conferencing.
