ILLINOIS STATE SENATE DISTRICT 33: Secretary of State’s office extends expiration dates

Announcement

Illinois State Senate District 33 issued the following announcement on July 9.

The Illinois Secretary of State’s office has announced that the deadline to renew expired driver’s licenses, ID cards and license plate stickers has been extended from Oct. 1 to Nov. 1. This new extension will also apply to those with documents that expire in July, August and September. These expired documents will remain valid until Nov. 1.

The Secretary of State’s office continues to urge the public to consider using online services instead of visiting a facility due to the increased demand for services. Customers with online access can visit www.cyberdriveillinois.com to utilize online services, including renewing license plate stickers.

Driver Services facilities are only serving new drivers, customers with expired driver’s licenses or ID cards, and vehicle transactions until July 31. Customers are required to wear a face mask while at the facility. Customers who must visit a facility are asked to be patient due to the high volume and to be prepared to wait outside due to social distancing requirements.

Additionally, customers who must visit a facility to renew their driver’s license or ID card are encouraged to use the preregistration application at www.cyberdriveillinois.com, which will speed up their transaction.
