City of Geneva Natural Resources Committee met Dec. 4.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

5. Active Projects:

• Earth Day Event, April 25, 2020

i. This year will be the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. A few ideas for the day include:

a. a parade along the bike path that would include floats made of recycled materials. Trish will contact schools in October. NRC will need a float.

b. A kite flying demonstration

c. Collect paper from downtown merchants that morning.

• Eastside Fire Station Natural Landscaping Project

i. Dan Ludwig has a proposal to purchase plants for the basin, both proposals are in the amount of 435.10. Plants will be purchased from two suppliers in the Spring of 2020.

• River Clean-up Day

i. Look forward to 2020 event.

• Rain Barrels for sale

i. Barrels are asleep.

• Greening Geneva Initiative

i. The final six trees requested by NRC have been planted by Wasco. Invoice for trees has been sent to GPD for payment.

ii. By the end of 2019, GPD will plant 170 trees in their parks.

iii. Total trees planted in 2019 is 206.

• Wine, Cheese, and Trees.

i. The next WCT event will be February 29th – Leap Year! SPRC has been reserved.

ii. Continue the planning process with GPDF.

iii. The Square page has been updated.

iv. Raffle items have been purchased.

v. Continue sending out Sponsorship letters.

• TreeHab USA

i. Next presentation TBD.

• Fabyan Preserve Stewardship

i. Work days for December are the 7th, and 21st.

ii. Battle of the Brush Piles is Dec. 7th

• Elm Park Restoration Work

i. Update from Kelvin

• NRC Facebook page and Instagram

i. General update

• Tree Ordinance

i. Waiting to hear back from City re:revisions from NRC.

6. New Initiatives

• Garner support and funds for a few recycle bins for downtown.

• Create an education piece to reduce straws at restaurants.
