City of Geneva Natural Resources Committee met Oct. 2.
Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

5. Active Projects:
• Earth Day Event, April 25, 2020
i. This year will be the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. A few ideas for the day include:
a. a parade along the bike path that would include floats made of recycled materials. Trish will contact schools in October. NRC will need a float.
b. A kite flying demonstration
c. Collect paper from downtown merchants that morning.
• Eastside Fire Station Natural Landscaping Project
i. Dan Ludwig has a proposal to purchase plants for the basin, both proposals are in the amount of 435.10. Plants will be purchased from two suppliers in the Spring of 2020.
ii. The fire department plans to burn the basin this Fall and asked that the plants be installed Spring 2020.
• River Clean-up Day
i. The rescheduled event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019.
ii. Kelvin to purchase additional magnets and accessories.
iii. Secure canoes to help move materials.
iv. The forest preserve will be contacted to coord trash drop off at dumpster.
v. Jay purchased snacks and water.
• Rain Barrels for sale
i. Barrels are $75 each.
• Greening Geneva Initiative
i. Three NRC members attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new xmas tree.
ii. GPD will plant 150 trees in their parks by October.
iii. Contact Wasco to plant a few additional trees this Fall.
• Wine, Cheese, and Trees.
i. The next WCT event will be February 29th – Leap Year!
ii. Start the planning process with GPDF.

i. Work days for October are the 5th and 19th.
