ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 65: Ugaste to Host Paper Shredding and Food Drive Event

65

Illinois State House District 65 issued the following announcement on Sept. 19

State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) will be hosting an upcoming paper shredding and food drive event on October 5th alongside State Senator Don DeWitte. The event will be held in Pingree Grove at the Carillon Senior Living Community, 1865 Andrew Blvd., from 9am-11:00am. It is free and open to the public. In addition to shredding paper documents, area residents can also donate food and personal care items onsite to the Burlington-Hampshire Area Food Pantry.

The upcoming event is a great opportunity for local residents to destroy sensitive documents to help prevent identity theft and fraud. Shredding documents to ensure personal information and data is destroyed is now more important than ever, with identity theft and fraud continually on the rise. This is one of the reasons Rep. Ugaste and Sen. DeWitte are hosting this event for the second time this year, to help constituents take the extra step to protect their information.

Documents that should be shredded include mail with personal information such as names, addresses, phone numbers or account information. The Burlington-Hampshire Area Food Pantry will accept all non-perishable food times, but is especially in need of personal care items like soap, shampoo, deodorant, diapers, toothpaste, detergent and wipes.

“The paper shredding event has been a popular event in the area, which is why we felt the need to provide another opportunity for residents to safely and securely dispose of documents,” said Rep. Ugaste. “This time we are adding a food drive into the mix, and we are hoping that residents will also be inclined to contribute back to our community through the Burlington-Hampshire Area Food Pantry to help those in need.”

With questions about the event, contact Rep. Ugaste’s district office at 630-797-5530.
