Illinois State House District 70 issued the following announcement on Sept. 16

House Committee to hold hearing on vaping crisis September 23

The Illinois House Mental Health Committee has scheduled a hearing to address the vaping crisis among Illinois teens and young adults at 11:00am on Monday, Sept. 23 in Room C-600 of the Michael A. Bilandic Building, located at 160 N. LaSalle Street in Chicago.

State Representative Jeff Keicher, R-Sycamore, a member of the committee, is encouraging local residents to share any questions, concerns, or suggestions they may have in advance of the hearing.

“As vaping-related illnesses continue to make news, it is imperative that we work with public health professionals and our law enforcement agencies to develop an effective response,” Keicher said. “We need to do a better job of educating youth and parents about the health risks associated with vaping and prevent this growing concern from getting worse.”

Constituents who wish to provide feedback to Representative Keicher can do so online by visiting repkeicher.com and clicking “Contact” on the homepage menu, or by calling the District Office in Sycamore at (815) 748-3494.
