The data shows that 50 men and six women were released in the Elgin zip code. The median age of the parolees was 35. The youngest parolee was a 19-year-old man convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2017, and the oldest was a 58-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2017.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Adolpo Perez-Arreguin. He was convicted of a crime against a person in 2010, when he was 18 years old. He is now 27.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
