ST. CHARLES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Alfred Bersted Foundation Awards Renz Center

St. Charles Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Jan. 24.

Renz Addiction Counseling Center was awarded $20,000 from the Alfred Bersted Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee, in support of general operating to help provide substance use and compulsive problem gambling treatment and prevention education services.

“The Alfred Bersted Foundation continues to be a valued community partner, and we appreciate the support the foundation has placed on substance use disorder treatment and prevention education,” said Renz Center’s Executive Director Jerry Skogmo. Programs like our Opioid Overdose Prevention Education, Medication-Assisted Treatment, and Positive Waves using Alpha-Stim devices can continue with foundation support, in addition to being able to add a fourth SMART Recovery location to now also include Ecker Mental Health Center in Elgin.”

The Alfred Bersted Foundation supports programs that benefit inhabitants of DuPage, Kane, DeKalb, and McHenry Counties.

Renz Center provides a continuum of care dedicated to the prevention, intervention and treatment of addictive behaviors related to alcohol, drugs, and gambling. Services range from prevention programs for youth in the schools to outpatient treatment programs for adolescents and adults. Priority is given to pregnant women and women with dependent children. Offices are located in Elgin, St. Charles, and Streamwood.

Renz Addiction Counseling Center is licensed by the state of Illinois for its adult and adolescent outpatient treatment programs. Renz Center is a non-profit organization funded in part by the federal government, Elgin Township, the Illinois Department of Human Services, Hanover Township, Geneva, and St. Charles 708 Mental Health Boards and other local community organizations.
