City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Dec. 27.
The City of Elgin is now accepting applications for high school students to serve on City boards and commissions.
This is a great opportunity for students to begin engaging with their local government and learn how it works. Aside from gaining leadership and research skills, they will also contribute to important projects and initiatives within Elgin.
Students from both public and private high schools are encouraged to apply. For this first year, we encourage sophomores or juniors to apply, as the 1.5-term would go through the next school year. Students going into their sophomore, junior and senior years will be considered for future one-year terms. Apply by the end of the year to be considered for appointment in January.
