City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Oct. 17.
Consider “recycling” your leaves by mulching them into your lawn with your lawn mower, or by composting them. These are great ways to provide your lawn and other plants in your yard with valuable nutrients, while reducing waste and saving money.
Mulching controls weeds, uses less fertilizer, enables better water infiltration, reduces thatch and improves soil quality.
