City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Sept. 24.
The City's public works department will be installing a new all-way stop intersection configuration at South Street and Edison Avenue on the morning of Monday, October 1.
The city recently conducted a traffic study with the assistance of Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc., which determined the adjustment warranted. Impacted sightline issues were the primary reason for the traffic study and consideration of adjustments.
Currently, vehicles on Edison Avenue (north/south) are required to stop for thru traffic on South Street (east/west). The new configuration will require all directions of traffic to come to a complete stop at the intersection.
Message boards were placed last week to alert motorists of the upcoming change. Please exercise caution near this intersection while motorists adjust in coming weeks. #ElginIL #TrafficAlert #TrafficConfiguration #AllWayStop
