The city has announced its budget for the new fiscal year starting May 1, 2025, totaling just over $221 million. This budget covers operational costs to provide essential services to 33,000 residents and over 2,000 businesses. These services include police and fire protection, streets and public works services, and utility services for electric, water, and sewer.

A significant portion of the budget is allocated to more than $49 million in capital projects aimed at improving infrastructure. This includes completing over 13 miles of road improvements. Almost $20 million is dedicated to water and sewer utilities to enhance water well capacity and treatment, improve the wastewater treatment plant, and replace aging infrastructure.

Due to increased costs in providing water and sewer services—attributed mainly to aging infrastructure requiring repair or replacement—the city will adjust water and sewer rates by 5% for the upcoming year. This rate change will apply to utility bills issued after June 1, 2025.

Despite rising costs associated with the city's electric utility, there will be no adjustment in electric rates for the sixth consecutive year.
