3. Environmental

4. Recycling/Solid Waste (J. Jarland)

Referencing a PowerPoint presentation included in the agenda packet, staff Jarland provided an overview of the Recycling Extravaganza noting 70,000 lbs. of material recycled. She promoted the next recycling event on September 8 for electronics and books only. The final event November 10 will include document shredding and paint. She covered location and cost for the Soil Saver compost bin sale September 11 and discussed the Public Recycling presentation October 10. She gave an update on the Task Force covering details and provided examples of what items cannot be recycled. Brief discussion occurred. (Allan arrives @ 9:08 am)

5. Sustainability (J. Mino)

Referencing a PowerPoint presentation included in the agenda packet, staff Mino shared the implementation of the rain garden. She covered the benefits, support for the state mandated programs and the educational outreach opportunity. Mino noted the rain garden supports the county’s sustainability program and supports native plants and pollinators. Brief discussion. (Gillam arrives @ 9:35 am)

7. Public Comment

Chris Kious from Algonquin mentioned he recently attended an event for National Pollinator week. He was the resident Entomologist for the event and recommended collaborating the Dundee Township's known pollinator organizations with Kane County.
