Position Objectives:
The Village of South Elgin is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Help Desk Technician in the Administrative Services Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager, the Help Desk position will provide computer hardware and software support to the Village's computer users in all Village departments; provide advice and guidance to resolve a wide range of technology problems; train users in the operational use of technology products; assist in the implementation of technology upgrades; document problems and resolutions; and install new equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
An Associate's degree or equivalent technical school credential in computer science, information technology, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Normal work hours for this position are 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required.
Desirable Training and Experience:
Qualifications include two years of workplace experience installing and troubleshooting personal computer hardware and software systems preferably in a Windows domain environment.
