Analysis: Elgin pays $1.89 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Pingree Grove & Countryside Fpd Firefighter's Pens

Taxpayers contributed 65.5 percent of the $107,874 the Pingree Grove & Countryside Fpd Firefighter's Pens brought in last year, or $1.89 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Kane County Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Elgin contributed $70,621 to the fund, which saw a $9,130 decrease in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $37,253, or 34.5 percent, in 2016.
