Rep. Steve Andersson (R-Geneva) is looking for super readers.

Andersson is inviting students in pre-K through fifth grade from his 65th District to participate in his 2017 Summer Reading Program.

“Students who read continue to learn, even when they are out of school, which can help prevent any learning loss typically experienced in the summer months,” Andersson said in a recent press release.

In the third year of the program, Andersson is encouraging young readers to choose at least 10 books to read throughout their summer vacation. Parents and guardians will certify the summer reading by filling out a form in the program brochure listing the titles of the books and emailing or mailing the form to Andersson’s office by Aug. 18.

Students who participate will be invited to a party in the fall hosted by Andersson, where they will receive a certificate of achievement.

“The summer reading program is a fun way to encourage students to read, and do so at their own pace,” Andersson said in the release.
