In an effort to capture local voters’ leanings, Republican candidate for Dundee Township Highway Commissioner Michael Rogers recently took to social media to convince constituents of his strengths.
“This is what happens when you have incumbents in office too long!” said Rogers via Facebook recently, referring to an itemized receipt for Carpentersville pension debt expenses, which he posted on his own Facebook page. “I do not want this to happen in Dundee Township!”
Itemizing his platform’s main points—a tax freeze referendum, term limits and anti-nepotism — Rogers cited a photograph depicting the total debt for the municipality of Carpentersville at more than $100 million, suggesting that he wanted to help Dundee Township avoid a similar fate.
“As your Republican Candidate for Dundee Township Highway Commissioner, I plan to clean up the Township by opposing Nepotism and Cronyism,” said the 12-year Carpentersville resident in his post. “I am running to clean up Dundee from the streets to the office.”
Clarifying his stand, Rogers stated that these practices have run their course and stressed that “it's time for a new Highway Commissioner to clean things up.”
Rogers is one of three contenders for the commissioner spot.
“I’m running … to reign in these abuses in our township,” he stated.
