Central Community Unit School District 301 highlights staff and student achievements in recent posts

Central Community Unit School District 301 recently highlighted staff achievements, student activities, and upcoming events in a series of posts on its official Twitter account.

On October 19, the district introduced a resource teacher at Howard B. Thomas Grade School. In the post, the district stated: " Say hello to Laurie Dean, Resource Teacher at Howard B. Thomas! She treasures those moments when a student lights up with understanding. When she’s not teaching, she’s spending time with family, decorating her home, or reading with a cup of tea. #WeAreCentral #NewCrew25".

A day later, on October 20, the district announced an upcoming community event: " Trunk or Treat is here! Join us Wednesday after school!! CHS Parking Lot, outside Door 10 Wednesday, Oct. 22 | 4–6 PM Hosted by CHS Drama Club Costumes welcome (but not required) — and everyone in Central 301 is invited to join the fun! #WeAreCentral ".

That same evening, the district recognized middle school athletes who participated in the IESA State Finals: "BIG STATE-MENT! Our middle school runners competed in the IESA State Finals this past weekend, but not before a fun send off at Central Middle School!! Congrats to Kacy Davis, Gavin Etters and Fiona Nolan! #WeAreCentral ".

Central Community Unit School District 301 serves Kane and DeKalb counties and includes several schools such as Central High School, Central Middle School, Country Trails Elementary School, Howard B. Thomas Grade School, Lily Lake Grade School, Prairie Knolls Middle School, and Prairie View Grade School (source). The district employs approximately 280 teachers with an average salary of $58,199; nearly 78 percent are women and about 22 percent are men (source). The student body is comprised of roughly 65 percent White students, with Hispanic, Asian, and Black students making up significant portions of the population (source). In the year 2020, the district spent $19,244 per student for a total expenditure of over $84 million (source).
