The City of Geneva has issued a clarification regarding a recent advertising letter that was sent to residents by a private plumbing company. The letter referenced the City’s sanitary sewer service lateral lining and grouting program and included the City’s logo, which has caused confusion among some residents.

City officials emphasized that they are not affiliated with the plumbing company that sent the letter. "The City is not affiliated with the plumber, even though the City's logo was used in the letter," the City stated.

Residents who are interested in the City’s sanitary sewer lateral lining and grouting reimbursement program are advised to contact the City’s Public Works Department Water Division directly. Inquiries can be made by calling 630-232-1551 or by emailing Superintendent of Water & Wastewater Bob VanGyseghem.

The City explained that while the sanitary sewer system has sufficient capacity to handle sanitary flow, heavy rainfall can lead to stormwater entering the system through both private and public sources. The reimbursement program was created to help reduce groundwater infiltration from private sewer services by lining or grouting private sewer service laterals.

More information about the program is available on the City’s website. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to available budget funds.
