The Village of Campton Hills has acknowledged the criminal charges announced on October 16, 2025, by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office against current and former employees of the Campton Hills Police Department. The Village stated it has fully cooperated with the Illinois State Police and other agencies during the investigation that resulted in these charges and will continue to do so as legal proceedings move forward.

According to the Village, "These charges involve alleged conduct that occurred under prior Village and Police Department leadership. These allegations do not reflect the integrity, professionalism, or commitment of the Campton Hills Police Department under its current leadership." The statement further noted that Chief James Levand has led efforts to improve procedures for evidence management and internal oversight to promote accountability and transparency.

"The men and women of our department serve with honor and professionalism every day, protecting our community with distinction," the Village said.

The Village emphasized its ongoing commitment to work closely with law enforcement and judicial authorities while maintaining public trust. "We take great pride in our community, our dedicated employees, and the strong partnerships that make Campton Hills a safe, welcoming, and vibrant place to live and work."

Officer Doug Kucik has been placed on paid administrative leave. The Village explained it cannot provide additional details regarding Officer Kucik’s discipline or employment status due to confidentiality surrounding personnel matters.
