The Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) has scheduled a public information meeting to discuss proposed improvements on Galligan Road, spanning from Binnie Road to Freeman Road in the Village of Gilberts. The session will take place at the Gilberts Eagles Club, 325 Raymond Street, on September 23, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The project includes roadway and intersection upgrades as well as enhancements for shared-use paths along this section of Galligan Road. Federal funding is expected for the initiative. KDOT states that the meeting is being held in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements and aligns with the Illinois Department of Transportation’s policy on public involvement.

Construction related to this project will occur within a floodplain area. In line with Executive Order 11988, as amended by EO 13690, KDOT is seeking public review and comments regarding the proposal and its alternatives.

“The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis. Representatives of KDOT will be available from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Representatives will answer individual questions and record comments offered by those in attendance. Verbatim comments will not be recorded,” according to KDOT’s announcement.

Attendees can ask questions directly to KDOT representatives about topics such as project necessity, design options under consideration, right-of-way acquisition processes, and preliminary construction timelines. Preliminary reports—including environmental documents and engineering analyses—will be available for inspection during the event and upon request prior to or after the meeting.

Written feedback may also be submitted via email or mail until October 10, 2025. Those requiring accommodations due to disability are encouraged to contact Colleen Jaltuch, Senior Project Manager, by September 16 through email at jaltuchcolleen@co.kane.il.us or phone at (630) 584-1170.
