Officer Jovani Chaidez has been sworn in as the newest member of the Montgomery Police Department. The ceremony took place at the Village Board Meeting on September 8, with Village President Matt Brolley administering the oath. Officer Chaidez’s family, including his parents and three older brothers, attended the event and participated by pinning his badge.

Chaidez recently graduated from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA), where he completed training designed to prepare him for police work. He is a 2020 graduate of East Aurora High School and has lived in Montgomery for ten years. Law enforcement is a family tradition for Chaidez, as one of his brothers serves with the Aurora Police Department.

Chief Phil Smith commented on Officer Chaidez’s appointment: “We are proud to welcome Officer Chaidez to our department,” said Montgomery Police Chief Phil Smith. “Having grown up here, he brings a unique perspective and a strong connection to Montgomery that will make him an excellent officer and community champion.”

Officer Chaidez will now begin field training with experienced officers as he starts his duties serving residents and businesses in Montgomery.

The Village has expressed its congratulations to Officer Chaidez and anticipates his contributions to local public safety.
