Earthmover Credit Union, the Village of Montgomery, and State Representative Matt Hanson are working together to provide a free paper shredding event for the community. The event will take place on Saturday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Montgomery Police Department located at 10 Civic Center Ave.
The event is sponsored by Earthmover Credit Union and aims to give residents an easy way to securely dispose of documents containing sensitive information. Each vehicle can bring up to four boxes of papers for shredding. No advance registration is required, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Volunteers from Earthmover Credit Union will be present at the site and will accept donations for Earthgivers, the credit union’s charitable branch. Alex Morales, Business Development Representative for Earthmover Credit Union, said: "As a local credit union, supporting the community is important to our organization and its employees. Earthgivers is the charitable arm of the Earthmover Credit Union that raises money and awareness for local families and organizations in need."
Participants should enter from Griffin Rd. (Rt. 30), which serves as the south entrance to Stuart Sports Complex. Signs will guide vehicles toward the shredding truck parked in the police department lot. Volunteers will direct traffic and unload items so attendees do not have to leave their cars.
Beaver Shredding has been contracted to provide a mobile shredding truck onsite where documents will be destroyed in locked containers for added security.
The Village of Montgomery organizes paper shredding events twice each year, with another scheduled for April 25, 2026.
