Clarke vehicles will conduct mosquito spraying across Geneva from dusk on Wednesday, Aug. 6, through dawn on Thursday, Aug. 7. The action follows recent positive tests for West Nile virus in area mosquito surveillance traps. Geneva is coordinating with neighboring municipalities to address the issue this week.
The city’s contractor will use a synthetic treatment considered safe for humans and pets. However, officials advise people with asthma or other respiratory conditions to remain indoors with windows closed during the application and for one hour afterward.
Residents can report mosquito nuisances and standing water concerns directly to Clarke using the company’s online portal. Those interested in advance notice of spraying can register to receive notifications from Clarke.
Geneva also offers its own notification system for mosquito spraying updates. Residents may subscribe to “community alerts” by selecting the Notify Me button on the City’s website.
Spraying may be rescheduled if there is inclement weather, with updates posted on the City’s website as needed.
