The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Advisory from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, through 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025. In response to this advisory, the City of Batavia will open a Temporary Cooling Center to assist older adults, families with young children, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable residents.

The cooling center will be operational from Wednesday morning through Friday morning and will remain open 24 hours a day during this period. It is located at Batavia City Hall at 100 N. Island Ave., with check-in required at the Batavia Police Department front desk upon arrival.

While the cooling center provides a cool and safe place to rest, it does not offer sleeping accommodations, showers, or food storage facilities. The city emphasizes the importance of checking on friends, family members, or neighbors who may be at risk during the heat advisory.

For further information about the Cooling Center, contact the Batavia Police Department at 630-454-2500.
