Constituents of State Senator Don DeWitte and State Representative Dan Ugaste are invited to a free property tax seminar on June 4 in St. Charles. The seminar aims to educate attendees on how their property tax bills are created and how they can appeal their assessments if needed.
Kane County Supervisor of Assessments Mark Armstrong will be the guest presenter at the event. "My office hears regularly from residents who are either confused about line items on their tax bill or who believe they are being over-taxed," said DeWitte. "Mark Armstrong is among the best in his field, and he will take a difficult subject matter and explain it in an easy-to-understand way. Anyone with questions about their tax bill is encouraged to attend."
The seminar will be held at the DeWitte-Ugaste Legislative Office located at 406 Surrey Woods Drive, St. Charles, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Attendees will learn about how tax bills are generated using information from various taxing bodies, available exemptions that may reduce tax bills, and the process for filing an appeal if a tax assessment appears inaccurate. A question-and-answer session will also be included.
