The Village of Montgomery Beautification Committee announced the winners of its 2025 Arbor Day Poster Contest during a Village Board Meeting on May 12, 2025. The event took place at the Village Hall.

The annual contest encourages local students to express the importance of trees through art. This year's theme was "Trees Plant a Cooler Future," and participants demonstrated creativity, environmental awareness, and appreciation for nature in their submissions.

The committee recognized three winners from Lakewood Creek Elementary School. Amanda L., a fourth grader, won first place with her poster titled "Trees are Our Future Forever, Our Oxygen and Life." Eva B., also a fourth grader, secured second place with her work titled "In the Future." Emeline C., a third grader, earned third place for her poster "Where Are the Trees?"

Winners were honored during the board meeting and received certificates along with special prizes. Each received a goodie bag from the Village of Montgomery containing fun items and a gift card to Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers in Montgomery.

The Beautification Committee expressed congratulations to all winners and gratitude to participants and educators involved in making the contest successful. More information about the Arbor Day Poster Contest is available at montgomeryil.org/761/Arbor-Day or via email at epfaff@montgomeryil.org.
