State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) is set to bring his legislative office's resources closer to the residents of the 33rd District through a series of traveling office hours this summer. The initiative aims to increase accessibility for constituents, with staff present at each event and the Senator attending when possible.
The planned events are as follows:
- Thursday, May 29: Elburn Town & Country Public Library, 320 East North Street, Elburn, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Wednesday, June 11: Crystal Lake Public Library, 126 W. Paddock Street, Crystal Lake, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Tuesday, June 17: Geneva Public Library, 227 South 7th Street, Geneva, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Wednesday, July 9: South Elgin’s Gail Borden Public Library, Rakow Branch, 2791 West Bowes Rd., South Elgin, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Tuesday, July 15: Lake in the Hills Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate, Lake in the Hills, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Wednesday, August 6: Algonquin Public Library at Harnish Dr., Algonquin from noon until two in the afternoon.
These sessions do not require an appointment and are open to all members of the public.
Senator DeWitte commented on the initiative by stating that he understands "that my West Dundee and St. Charles offices are not convenient for all of my constituents." He further added that attendees could "learn about the services my office can provide and receive assistance with issues regarding state agencies," including help with unemployment benefits issues and license transfers among others.
