North Aurora Police Department Officer Mason Brant has been awarded the Life Saving Award for his decisive actions during a critical emergency. The recognition was given by Mayor Mark Gaffino at a recent Village Board meeting, highlighting Officer Brant's efforts that directly contributed to saving a man's life.

Sergeant Mike Robinson nominated Officer Brant for the award, noting his response to a dispatch involving an unconscious male subject near the Aurora/North Aurora border. Officer Brant, being nearby, was the first on scene and faced the challenging situation of an unconscious person in a vehicle surrounded by a crowd. He immediately initiated CPR until paramedics arrived.

Upon their arrival, paramedics detected a faint pulse after taking over care. Officer Brant then performed additional measures, resulting in signs of recovery from the individual who was later taken to hospital and recovered.

Sergeant Robinson commended Officer Brant's ability to manage stress and control the scene effectively. His quick response and actions were crucial in saving the man's life.

Officer Brant’s situational awareness and swift response were praised as instrumental in this life-saving incident.
