ComEd has announced plans to begin tree trimming near electric lines this spring, with a focus on areas along Kirk Road and the Union Pacific-West Railway tracks in Geneva. The initiative, pending favorable weather conditions, is expected to commence in mid-May.

Although the City of Geneva operates its own electric utility, ComEd plays a role in supplying power to the city’s substations. Geneva relies on interconnects with ComEd to access energy from its regional service transmission provider, PJM.

The utility company emphasizes that its vegetation management program plays a crucial role in maintaining electrical reliability. "Tree branch contact with power lines is a leading cause of outages," ComEd explained.

To keep residents informed, ComEd will communicate with those living in neighborhoods where tree trimming activities are scheduled. Individuals can also access more details and review the project map by visiting ComEd's designated tree trimming web page.
