Several school libraries in the 33rd Senate District will benefit from a total of $74,840.92 through state library grants, as announced by State Senator Don DeWitte.

The grant allocation for each school district is clearly outlined. Community Unit School District 300 will receive $16,696.41, Crystal Lake Community High School District 155 will receive $4,632.09, and Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District 47 will receive $6,010.92. The Elgin School District U-46 will receive the most significant portion, amounting to $28,979.33. Other beneficiaries include St. Charles Community Unit School District 303, receiving $9,862.44, Geneva Community Unit School District 304 with $4,308.18, West Chicago Community High School District 94 with $1,733.72, and West Chicago Elementary School District 33, which will receive $2,617.83.

Senator DeWitte emphasized the importance of these grants, saying, "When we invest in books and technology at our school libraries, we are providing a springboard to knowledge and success for students. I appreciate the Secretary of State’s willingness to continually bring meaningful financial support to our school libraries."

The state library grants will support a range of resources, including library books, e-books, audiobooks, and various technological services. According to the statutory formula devised by the General Assembly, the grants are distributed at a rate of $0.885 per student.

Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias commented on the grants: “Illinois students deserve to have access to quality library resources, including learning materials, books and online services at our public schools. Libraries serve as places of knowledge, learning, and discovery and this funding will help equip them to educate and inspire our future generations.”
