Building fire contained quickly with no injuries in St. Charles, Illinois

At approximately 3:36 p.m. on April 16, 2025, the St. Charles Fire Department responded to a report of a building fire at 975 N. 5th Avenue in St. Charles, Illinois. The fire was discovered by staff and was located on a cooktop in the main kitchen. The department noted that the kitchen suppression system was not initially activated by the blaze.

Fire department personnel arrived on the scene just over three minutes later and manually activated the kitchen suppression system, bringing the fire under control by 3:47 p.m. Fortunately, the fire remained confined to the cooktop, with no injuries reported among civilians or firefighters.

The St. Charles Fire Department received assistance from the St. Charles Police Department and fire departments from Geneva, Batavia, West Chicago, and North Aurora in managing the situation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
