State Senator Don DeWitte, representing the 33rd Senate District, is organizing an event in collaboration with the Illinois Treasurer’s Office to help residents discover unclaimed property and cash. The event will take place on Wednesday, February 19, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Rakow Center’s Adult Activities Center in Carpentersville.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a counselor from the Treasurer’s Office who can assist them in identifying any unclaimed items that may belong to them. Counselors will also provide support in filing claims for discovered property or cash.

Senator DeWitte expressed optimism about the initiative, stating, “We have had tremendous success in helping people find cash and property they didn’t even know they were owed.” He added that he is pleased to begin his 2025 constituent outreach efforts with this event.

The ICASH Unclaimed Property Day aims to connect individuals with potential inheritance money or forgotten bank account funds. “Right now, the state could be holding inheritance money or funds from a forgotten bank account that belongs to you,” said DeWitte. “Don’t let it go to waste. Stop by to see if you are owed money and claim what belongs to you.”

For more information regarding this event, interested parties can contact Senator DeWitte’s district office at (847) 214-8245 or email Abby at amccarthy@sgop.ilga.gov.
