Illinois' 11th Congressional District candidate Jerry Evans addressed societal issues in a Facebook post on November 1, stating, "A poor jobs report, sluggish economy, rising cost of goods, home ownership out of reach for many, an open border with millions of unvetted illegals pouring through…"

"A poor jobs report, sluggish economy, rising cost of goods, home ownership out of reach for many, an open border with millions of unvetted illegals pouring through & one international disaster after another," said Evans, according to Facebook. "We can & will do better. VOTE TODAY!"

In his post, Evans shared a link to a Fox Business report discussing the October jobs numbers. According to Fox Business and data from the U.S. Labor Department, the United States added 12,000 jobs in October. This figure represents the lowest tally since December 2020 and falls significantly short of the 113,000 predicted by LSEG economists. In recent months, job addition figures have been revised downward to 78,000 in August and 223,000 in September.

The report noted that several sectors were close to their average monthly gains: government at 40,000 and healthcare at 52,300. The teen unemployment rate decreased from 14.3% in September to 13.8% in October. Some economists attribute this drop to California's $20 an hour minimum wage for fast food workers.

National Public Radio (NPR) reported that despite these figures, the labor market might not be as weak as it appears due to factors such as the Boeing strike and the impact of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. NPR suggested focusing on more stable indicators like the unemployment rate, which stood at 4.1% in October.

Evans is conducting his campaign with an emphasis on education and community service within the Chicago area. He is a small businessman and founder of a suburban music school. A graduate of Wheaton College with a degree in music, Evans resides in Warrenville with his family and is actively involved in mentoring and missionary activities across India, Mexico, and South Africa.
