Grace Association Christian Academy is set to host a story hour event organized by BRAVE Books and actor Kirk Cameron.

The event is scheduled for Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Association Christian Academy located at 747 Davis Road in Elgin. According to BRAVE Books' website, the event’s aim is to instill positive values and moral principles in the minds of young readers, with a mission to steer the nation back to its spiritual roots. The event will feature engaging storytelling, interactive discussions, and a focus on the importance of faith, hope, love and other traditional values.

"Join Kirk Cameron and BRAVE Books on the mission to promote free speech in our libraries and schools. When libraries canceled Kirk Cameron’s national story hour campaign, thousands of Americans rallied together." BRAVE Books stated on its website.

The initiative seeks to foster a sense of community and unity among families, pastors, teachers, and local representatives as they come together at their local libraries to celebrate the virtues of faith, hope, and love.

“Kirk Cameron, alongside BRAVE Books, have been visiting libraries and holding story hours across the country to teach kids about faith, hope, and love," BRAVE Books stated. "Imagine thousands of local public libraries filled by you and your friends, your pastors, your teachers and your local representatives on this date.”

BRAVE Books describes itself as a Christian conservative company with a mission to provide alternative children's literature that promotes traditional American values and helps parents instill a love of truth in their children to withstand harmful progressive influences. It aims to create a unique learning experience through epic adventure stories that equip children with a brave spirit to combat the challenges faced by the nation today.

Grace was established in 2021 in response to parents seeking alternatives to public school education, according to its Facebook page. It currently operates Families of Faith Christian Academy in Channahon, Liberty Christian School in Romeoville, Faith Christian Academy in Naperville, Lincoln-Way Christian Academy in Manhattan, and Sauk Valley Christian Academy in Sterling. In 2023 the academy will open new locations including GRACE Christian Academy in Springfield, GRACE Mount Morris in Mount Morris, GRACE Christian Academy-Elgin, and Community Christian School in Sebastian, Florida.
