Q3 2022 Recap: 3 parolees from Kane County convicted of homicide set for release

There were three offenders convicted of homicide living in Kane County released on parole during the third quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Kane County Reporter.

The data shows two men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 38. The youngest parolee was a 28-year-old man sentenced in 2010, and the oldest was a 53-year-old man sentenced in 2004.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Cowarna Patterson. She was convicted in 2003 when she was 19 years old. She is now 38.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
