Q2 2022 Recap: 13 parolees from Kane County convicted of sex crimes set for release

There were 13 offenders convicted of sex crimes living in Kane County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Kane County Reporter.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes, one was a veteran, and the median age was 42. The youngest parolee was a 26-year-old man sentenced in 2015, and the oldest was a 60-year-old man sentenced in 2010.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Glen Baum. He was convicted in 2016 when he was 44 years old. He is now 51.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of sex crimes were paroled during the second quarter of 2022 in each Illinois county.
