Q1 2022 Recap: 5 parolees from Kane County convicted of homicide set for release

There were five offenders convicted of homicide living in Kane County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Kane County Reporter.

The data shows four men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 44. The youngest parolee was a 26-year-old man sentenced in 2014, and the oldest was a 49-year-old woman sentenced in 1996.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Angela S. Oakes. She was convicted in 1996 when she was 22 years old. She is now 49.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
