Illinois Republican State Central Committeeman Dean R. White is slamming the criminal prosecution of former President Donald Trump.
Trump is the first former head of state to face criminal charges. He is actively running for re-election in 2024.
“America itself is under attack. The Democrats deceitfully weaponized law enforcement, in this case, the Office of the New York District Attorney's Office, to indict President Donald J. Trump, to disrupt a presidential election,” White said on Facebook. "As a State Central Committeeman representing the Illinois Republican Party in the 8th Congressional District on behalf of my constituents, I express my outrage at this miscarriage of justice attacking one of our own, a Conservative Republican."
White said the indictment is "an attack on all American citizens because President Trump is guaranteed rights afforded by the Constitution, but yet, this prosecutor trampled over his rights just to forward a Biden agenda to eliminate Trump from being a Presidential contender in 2024."
"The time has come for whatever feelings one may have for President Trump to set that aside and unite together to support him as he fights for all of us, our constitution and his mission to Make America Great Again," he added. "One team and one fight to support a fellow American Patriot who has fought hard AND SACRIFICED DEARLY to make this a greater nation for the future of our children!"
White pointed out that "the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Southern District investigated Trump for years with these accusations and waived prosecution lacking evidence."
"The DA of New York, Alvin Bragg, a Democrat who was elected by being funded by the liberal radical George Soros, assembled a grand jury to charge Trump with charges that are not even covered in his state jurisdiction," White added.
The indictment against Trump lists 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. The charges were brought by Bragg whose predecessor had refused the charges as misdemeanors for six years. Bragg ran for office on the promise of prosecuting Trump, Washington Examiner reported.
Trump is accused of making a number of improper payments in 2017 “with intent to defraud and intent to commit another crime and aid and conceal the commission” in many cases through invoices from his former attorney Michael Cohen, according to the indictment document.
In comments at his Mar-A-Lago estate in the wake of the arraignment Trump, who pledged not guilty, denounced the charges.
“This fake case was brought only to interfere with the upcoming 2024 election, and it should be dropped immediately,” Trump said.
He noted the interference of intelligence agencies in censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story prior to the November 2020 election.
“Just recently, the FBI and DOJ in collusion with Twitter and Facebook in order not to say anything bad about the Hunter Biden laptop from him, which exposes the Biden family as criminals and which, according to the pollsters, would have made a 17 point difference in the election result,” Trump said. “And we needed a lot less than that. Like about 16.9. It would have been in our favor, not my favor our favor because our country is going to hell. And we remember the 51 intelligence agents who said Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation. It didn't exist. It was Russian disinformation. Remember that? And that was all confirmed strongly by the FBI when they all knew that it wasn't Russian disinformation and so much more.”
