Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) thanked local elementary school students for participating in his and Rep. Jeff Keicher's (R-Sycamore) "Valentines for Seniors" program in a Facebook post published on Tuesday.
"Shout Out and Thanks to the students at Martin Elementary in Lake in the Hills and Principal Michele Happold for participating in our Valentines for Seniors program," Syverson wrote. "They had students create special cards for seniors."
Syverson launched the annual program on Jan. 19 and noted that he and Keicher would be accepting donated Valentine's cards for seniors and those living in the state's long-term care facilities. Both men will accept cards at their offices through Feb. 7.
"Valentines for Seniors are starting to arrive!" Syverson wrote in a Monday Facebook post attached to a photo of a large stack of Valentine's cards. "Thank you 35th District! Keep ‘em coming!"
Cards can be dropped off at or mailed to the following addresses: 200 S. Wyman, Suite 302, Rockford, IL 61101 (815-987-7555); 158 W.
