On Saturday, November 19, 2022, the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry distributed 138 Thanksgiving meals to local families. Each meal contained all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for a family of eight, including a 12-15 pound whole frozen turkey, fruit, vegetables, dessert, gravy, rice and beans, potatoes, and stuffing mix. Special meals like these are offered to clients in addition to their regular shopping opportunities at the Pantry.
Executive Director Eileen Pasero expressed how thankful the Pantry is. “We are so grateful for all of the donations from our generous community and for the partnerships we have with our local grocery stores. It is thanks to them that we are able to provide not only the items that families regularly receive, but also special holiday meals like this one.”
As the Food Pantry & Clothes Closet looks ahead to Giving Tuesday, they encourage those interested in giving to consider donating $45. A $45 donation to the Food Pantry is enough to fill a grocery cart for a family of four, providing approximately $400 worth of food. The goal is to “Fill 50” which will feed 50 local families for one month. For more information or to donate, please visit their website at https://bataviafoodpantry.org/
