Nothing By Default presents a unique art experience in Batavia at Black Cactus Print House, 11 E. Wilson Street.
Batavia, IL – March 3, 2022 – The buzz continues to build about the immersive art event coming to downtown Batavia on Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27. Handprinted, front-page newsprint announcements are dotting the windows of downtown businesses. Members of Nothing By Default (NBD) team, an offshoot of Black Cactus Print House, have partnered with Batavia’s Shumway Studios to produce an exciting promotional video that uncovers more details regarding the multimedia event.
The video, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/kdfw8AR5v6Y, shows the team at NBD putting together more parts of the Thank You for Leaving the House event and introduces a Chicago legend to the team. Chicago designer, DJ and fashion icon Vic Lloyd has been a part of the creation of some of Chicago’s biggest streetwear staples within the city. He started with Leaders 1354 and moved on to his most recent business, Fat Tiger Workshop. Both have been huge parts of Chicago’s growth in the streetwear industry.
When asked about Lloyd’s involvement in the new company and event, NBD founder Andrew Heppner said, “Man, I have grown up watching guys like Vic Lloyd pave the way and really put Chicago on the map in the fashion industry.
“Maybe 12 years ago, I drove to the city daily with hopes of being around guys like Vic,” continued Heppner. “The fact that this relationship grew to the point that I’ve earned his respect as a designer, and now a partner, is huge for me.”
The video also mentions that the Batavia event is the first installation, with the second show moving to the city of Chicago.
“Throughout the year we will be doing these crazy immersive events to showcase what is to come on the website. We have pretty aggressive plans to spread these ideas around and create innovative suggestions to the way people buy and sell art and clothing,” Heppner concluded.
