9

Community Engagement Director for Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley, Al Watts, was named as a 2022 Bruce MacDougal Advocacy Scholar by the Preservation Action Foundation on Friday, February 18, 2022. Watts, who is also studying for a Master’s in Public History online at American Public University, will participate in policy briefings, training on advocating for historic preservation, networking events and congressional office visits during National Historic Preservation Advocacy Week, March 7-10, 2022.

“My current role [as Community Engagement Director for Preservation Partners] is to educate city officials and the public about the importance and benefits of historic preservation,” Watts said. “Observing best practices of preservation advocacy and connecting with federal lawmakers will inform me on how

to best engage my local community to support historic preservation.”
