City of Batavia Board of Fire & Police Commissioners met Nov. 16.

This meeting took place in person at the Batavia Police Department Conference room. Meeting started at 11:00 a.m.
Roll Call
Members Present: Chairman Nancy Vance; Secretary Dennis Anderson, Commissioner Randy Zies Members Absent:
Others Present: Police Chief Daniel Eul; Deputy Chief Eric Blowers, Recording Secretary Joanne Miller.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Police officer Candidate Ethan Gates requested to speak to the Commissioners about re-instating him on the August 9, 2019, Police Officer Eligibility List. On June 2, 2021, Gates sent an email to D.C. Blowers requesting that he be removed from the eligibility List. The Commissioners accepted his request on June 8, 2021, to removed him from the eligibility list eliminating him for any future consideration for any vacancies filled from the 2019 eligibility list. The Commissioners let him know that they would discuss this matter, however, removal from the list is permanent for the duration of the current list and that he is welcome to test again in the future.
APPROVE PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES
The Regular Meeting minutes from October 5, 2021, and the Regular and Executive Session Minutes for the October 13, 2021, Emergency Meeting are Tabled for a later meeting.

Motion: To approve Invoice: 2007326 from Stephen A. Laser Associates. In the amount of $550, for one police officer individual assessment for Michael Hockett.

Mayor’s Authorization to Appoint One (1) Police Patrol Officer
The Commissioners accepted a memo dated November 10, 2021, from Mayor Jeffery Schielke authorizing the Commissioners to appoint one (1) Police Patrol Officer as a result of a pending vacancy by a police officer.

Fall Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners Fall Conference:
Discussion:
Anderson was unable to attend.
Vance handed out the “Legislative and Case Law Update Fall 2021” handout to Commissioners and Chief’s at the meeting and discussed some of the highlights of the conference.

Motion: To approve giving a Conditional Offer of employment to Police Candidate Robert Skrobot, based upon successful completion of a psychological exam and medical exam.

The Commissioners took a break from 12:51 – 12:55 p.m.
Police Candidate Robert Skrobot was invited back to the room and the Commissioners asked him if he would like to accept the Conditional Offer of Employment as a Probationary Police Officer. He accepted the Conditional Offer.
